The Government of Canada is sponsoring Emergency Preparedness Week May 7-13. #EPWeek. The theme of this year's event is: Plan, Prepare, Be Aware. The annual event has been held since 1996 and is currently sponsored by Public Safety Canada
The underlying approach of government is that emergency preparedness lies with citizens and that every individual or family needs to be able to survive 72 hours without help from authorities.
Canadians have good reasons to take Emergency Preparedness seriously. There are over 5,000 earthquakes every year in Canada. The 2010 earthquake in Val-des-Bois in Quebec was felt in Kentucky.
